Stupid Nail Polish Names

Offender: OPI Holland Collection
Name in Question: "Did you 'ear about Van Gogh"

There are a couple things wrong with this polish. First, the name, obviously. Vincent Van Gogh was a troubled man with a troubled mind. We really don't know what afflicted him. Schizophrenia, bi-polar, depression, seizures, voices, poisoned paint, no one has been able to pin point his mental imbalance. We do know he suffered badly enough to cut off his ear. He died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound at the age of 37.
I, myself, suffer from depression & find the line between appropriate and satire is becoming blurred. I can laugh at myself. I'm one of those that uses humor as a defense mechanism. However, I'm not an owner of a nail polish company looking to make money off someone's distasteful, tacky attempt at being tongue in cheek. If you or a family member is suffering from any kind of mental affliction, I'm sure you know how awful and heartbreaking it is, because well, it's basically lifelong and without a cure. (it can be managed),

The second problem I have with this polish, is the color. If you're going to go with naming a polish after great Impressionist Vincent Van Gogh at least have the decency to make it a bright color. This blah color is not what I think of when I hear Van Gogh. What color do you think of? Blue? Green? Yellow? Orange? Beige, you say?

OPI "Did you 'ear about Van Gogh". It's the nice shade of American Dad's Roger that's everywhere.

The spring collection, Holland (at least they got that part right).

Starry Night

Sunflowers. So beautiful. Makes me feel so warm.

The Potato Eaters. Perhaps OPI googled "Van Gogh" and this was the first image that popped up?

Only two entries!? I've been super busy, but then again who isn't? Good news? I lost 5 pounds. The bad news? I had to get an infected tooth and mastitis to lose it. My oldest son turned 5! The bad news? I have a 5 year old. Pretty soon we'll be picking out his x-long bed sheets for his dorm room. We also adopted a dog, Minnie. She is the coolest dog! She loves the kids and she just might be the feminine energy the house has been lacking.

Onto the nails!

I finally received my order from The Zoya sale. I ordered Trixie, a silver sparkle and Shay, a nude cream.

The wear on this was awesome, kid baths, puppy baths, Fabuloso cleaning, dishes and 7 days later, there are hardly any chips! No topcoat either!

By Sunday, I wanted to change it up, so I busted out my Konad nail stamping set. I haven't had the time or the patience to use em lately, but the process was easier and faster this time. I used Zoya Trixie as the accent color.

I took my $3.50 off $10.00 coupon to Ulta and picked this up. The Nicki Minaj OPI mini set!! Love her or love to hate her, she is so intriguing. I love her rapping skills, I love her colorful style. Believe me, I shocked myself. Anyway, my set came with Save Me, the bar glitter, instead of Metallic 4 Life, the black jelly with silver glitter. I can't wait to use the pink. Such a fantabulous spring color set!

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." This especially becomes the truth as you get older. Didn't you just love the Bueller Super Bowl commercial?

XOXO, Terri
